Bloggers need to choose an area they are passionate about, and therefore can freely blog on topics that are of interest to them. Does the chosen niche help them gain competitive advantage and hand them authority over their competitors? Bloggers need to evaluate their chances of succeeding in the niche they settle in. If the niche promises success and authority, then that’s the right one for them.

2. Settling on the blogging platform

There’s need for the to-be blogger to select a blogging platform that can meet their blogging needs with ease. Some of the important considerations that cannot be ignored when choosing a blogging platform include; ease of updating the blog content, technicalities needed in setting up the platform, making the blog SEO compliant, and the preferred hosting scheme. One can go for a free blogging platform or pay for a platform. Blogging on a free blogging platform is always associated with numerous limits such as disk space, and domain name disassociation from the hosting company’s. Using a paid for the platform has numerous advantages, especially for bloggers wishing to blog as professionals. WordPress is the most common blogging platform out there.

3. Finding a host for the blog

After settling on the blogging platform, the next area of interest touches on where they intend to host their blog. The hosting company provides disk space for the storage of blog files and content. The blogger needs to select hosts that offer services on plans that are within their budget and can meet their technical expectations.

4. Settling on domain name
