Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire are the next generation Pokémon games.They are for Game Boy Advance. They made their debut November 21st, 2002 in Japan and on March 17, 2003 in the United States. In japan the price is be 4,800 Yen. The price in the US is $34.95.
There are many new things in Pokémon RS. Some of them are:
-There are 135 new pokémon.
-The trainer's eyes in the PokéNav tells you which trainers want to battle.
-All in-game trainers except gym trainers/leaders and villians will rebattle you (they will have trained their pokémon).
-You can link RS with the E Card Reader.
-There are two on two battles in game and out of the game.
-There is a new region called Hoenn which the entire game takes place in.
-There are Pokémon Contests.
-You can decide which berries grow where by planting them.
-Team Rocket has been replaced by Teams Aqua and Magma.
-There are weather conditions.
-There are Mystery Events.
Some other changes is the replacement of the Pack with a Bag and the replacement of the PokéGear with the PokéNav. I will let you find out the rest by yourself. Now that I have briefed you on what is new in the game, I will tell you the major things that are not in the game:
-Morning, Day and Night have been removed.
-Pokémon are not animated.
-Johto and Kanto are not in the game.
-You can not trade with Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal.
-184 out of the 386 pokémon are not catchable in RS.
Personally, I doubt that the game needs these things. You probably won't believe me but the game is more fun without them. I find weather conditions more fun than Day and Night. Animations are probably reserved for the game after RS like they were for Crystal after GS. The game is supposed to be an entirely new adventure so adding Johto and Kanto is pointless since it is not meant to take place in the future. The game is meant to take place in another place rather than another time so trading/battling with Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal wouldn't help the storyline. Last but not least, I am sure we will be able to get the unobtainable Pokémon via the E Reader or Stadium 3 if not both in the near future.
