RS Deter Values

DVs or deter values in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire control how strong a pokémon can get. There are DVs for: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Sound Familar? They control how high a pokémon's status can be.

To determine your pokémon's DVs. When they are at their maximum status. Use the box trick to raise their status. No it is not a bug. Nintendo put it in the game. I use it myself. First, find your pokémon's status. Then find out the maximum status for the species and then subtract your pokémon's maximum status from it. You may do so in the pokédex if the pokémon's pokédex entry is online. Now, subtract it from 31 and your done. However if it becomes a negative number it is not fully boxed. Be sure not to forget, zero is a not considered a negitive number. You will have to do this for: HP, attack, defense, special, speed to find out all of your pokémon's DVs.

If you have any questions email me.

Note: This is a revised version of the Pokémon RBY and GSC DV page. It contains some information that is only true in Pokémon RS. Some examples are: There are now 32 different possible DVs. Now a new hidden value controls whether a pokémon is shiny or not and it's hidden power. The last example I am going to give is that now Special Attack and Special Defense use different DVs.
